REHABILITATION OF THE INTAKE AND OF THE TREATMENT PLANT,

Calafat water treatment plant ensures drinking water supply in accordance with the requirements of EU Directive 98/83/EC on drinking water quality. In order to fulfill the requirements of EU Directive 98/83/EC, the water treatment process includes water from the Danube river, raw water treatment with ozone for pesticides and oxidation of iron and manganese, the coagulation, flocculation and settling water step for retaining the coagulated suspensions, the water filtering through sand filters and final disinfection with chlorine.

Technological water treatment process involves also the preparation and dosing of coagulant (Al₂(SO₄)₃), agent preparation and dosing for pH neutralization (H₂SO₄) and polyelectrolyte preparation and dosing for floaters forming. The resulting sludge after water settling and washing sand filters is mixed in a thickening tank and dewatered until getting a concentrations of 25% dry matter.
